- Arrange the group in a circle and make sure everyone has their own joint (or bowl or bong).
- Everyone starts by staring down at their feet.
- On the count of 3, everyone looks up and stares at another player.
- If two players look at each other, both take a hit.
I tend to buy strong weed for personal consumption. If I’m playing a smoking game, though, I want a strain with lower THC levels. It’s the same reason I use a light lager for beer pong. Sure, I’d prefer a strong IPA, but I couldn’t play as long if I did.
- Get everyone to sit in a circle (or a vague, circle-like amoeba).
- Pick a category and a letter. For example, “Movies that start with ‘w’.”
- The first person to miss takes a hit.
- The second person to miss takes two hits.
- After two misses, the next person in the circle picks a category and letter.
The selection is almost limitless. Just find a song you like, pick a lyric, and enjoy! You can also make the game less weed-intensive by passing the weed each time the keyword or phrase is used.
Alcohol has a way of strengthening the effects of cannabis. For many consumers, that can spell the end of their night. Or the end of their participation in smoking games, anyway.
To keep everyone playing longer, the first step is to reduce the average hit you need to take in the game.
Worried about couch lock? Have some fun on your feet with one of my favorite games on the list.
The problem was: I didn’t know any good smoking games. The ones I did know called for a LOT of smoking, and most of the people we were with would have had a lot of trouble keeping up. And those that could keep up had already made it clear they didn’t want to get too high.
Depending on the pace of the game you’re playing, you might be tempted to take an extra hit between turns. Don’t do it.
Why aren’t we all playing more weed games at parties? I compiled a list of some of the most popular and easy-to-play marijuana smoking games. (Karing Kind | Boulder, CO)
Once you’re all seated, pick someone to go first . This person picks a category and a letter (e.g. bands whose name starts with Q). The category can be anything—movies, food, two-dimensional shapes like the enneadecagon, whatever.
This weed game is pretty self-explanatory. Pick your favorite video game—Super Smash Bros. or Mario Kart work well—and play until there’s a winner. Winner gets to take a puff from the bong while the others have to watch. Play again. Alternatively, the winner could get 2, 3, or 4 puffs while the loser(s) only get one.
Alternatively, you can go head-to-head (no pun intended). The person with the highest score gets two tokes while the loser gets none. Make up your own rules and rock on.
Gather everyone together and make sure there’s enough ganja to go around. Roll a few joints, pack a few bongs, or have some blunts standing at the ready. Pick a person to go first. That person makes a simple statement starting with “Never have I ever…” followed by some action.
But for that to work, the person doing the changing has to pay attention—something that may get harder and harder as the hour goes on. Whenever the song changes, everyone has to take a hit from whatever ganja is nearby. Dancing and revelry are encouraged.
Smokin’ Dice is a quick and easy way to have some fun and get high at the same time. Purchase a set of Smokin’ Dice, pack a big bowl of bud, and start rolling.
If you’re looking at someone who ISN’T looking at you, you’re safe. If you’re looking at someone who IS looking at you, shout “Medusa!”, fire up your joint and take a hit.
You can also play this game with movies, actors, countries, elements on the periodic table, polyhedra, or, to make it really hard, Dungeons & Dragons monsters.
This works well in small groups like 2 or 3, but it can be done in larger groups. For larger groups, you just have to play until it’s down to one-on-one.
